Neat Spot

Choice Juicery
This place is so awesome.  Right in the heart of Carlsbad Village so near the beach and lots of other cool shops n things.  The cold pressed juice is great, but the atmosphere is even more refreshing: a pallet wall garden, giant robot mural, fresh air, healthy crowd, and floor cushions.  Gotta love a place that cultivates happiness through health and nature.

True dat lil Buddha

San Diego, CA

I am head over heels for San Diego as a city...it's overcast & there's no sunset, but the view still takes my breath away no matter what.

Mantra Monday

Ask yourself upon every decision you make.
Explore more Mantras!
I actually first glanced at this and thought it said "does this [de]serve me?" & I instantly loved it.

In every future relationship I have whether with a man or just a friend,  I must ask myself: "does this [de]serve me?" before getting caught up in the relationship.  Therefore I give myself the chance to avoid toxic friendships before they even start.  One must surround oneself with people that mutually deserve one another!

After I realized that this quote actually reads "does this serve me?" I was a little bummed it wasn't the original mantra I thought it was going to be.  I began to think though...I should check in with myself before every decision I make, not just for relationship guidance!

Before working out: "does this serve me?"
     - Answer: YES.
Before eating something unhealthy: "does this serve me?"
-Answer: Absolutely not! I'll be happier if I don't eat it.
There is a myriad of situations this self-check is beneficial...try it out!

Wise words from Papa Bear

This morning I slept in which is out of character for me lately.  In my half away state, a knock on my door eventually got me up by nine a.m.  My dad sat on the end of my bed and asked how I was feeling.  He proceeded to reassure me that while he thinks I am always awesome, he doesn't expect me to be awesome every day; it's okay to have off days.  Although I was just a little under the weather this morning, it was an amazing reminder that I don't have to be successful each and every day.  If I am not my most productive self on occasion, I should not be disappointed with my efforts and I must remember that my family will certainly still love me just the same.  Breathe and move forward.

Happy Little Jig

Mantra Monday

Something to remember during times of jealousy or selfishness.

Pardon me if you are an extraordinary exception to the generalization I am about to make, but I am sure that everyone has been jealous of another's success at some point in one's life.  On the other hand, pretty much everyone has also gotten so caught up in one's own happiness that others are left in the dust.  This is one of my favorite little mantras not only because the homie Buddha spoke it, but also because it's easy to have lapse of character at these times and this quote is a great reminder that all benefit from shared happiness.

When I find myself jealous of another's prosperity, I recall Buddha's words here and remember that if I simply celebrate that individual's greatness, my praise will be felt and in return I will receive the joy of making another happy (surprisingly rewarding).  Win-win if ya ask me!

Alternatively, it is also easy to be so proud of one's own achievements that it is forgotten that happiness is only real when shared.  It is much more gratifying to be humble and applauded than to be pompous about successes only to find that no one is going to care and thus crickets cued where congratulations were expected.  Lose the crickets, share dat happiness.

Food for the Soul

133 Daphne St.

Encinitas, CA 92024
Raw/Vegan/Gluten & Soy-Free!

Shylah took me here for my first time today and now I see why she is obsessed.  We split two entrees: the "Mystical Mushroom Quesadilla" and the "Magical Mango Curry Wrap."  These dishes are definitely appropriately named for I would only expect them to be found in a fairytale land with the best food ever.

Check out their website to view their menu and what they're all about!

Post-dancing at Las Consuelas

Dinosaurs

Nothing like a relaxing weekend in Palm Springs with the family and close friends to kick off Summer 2014.

If you ever make it out to the 92622, be sure to grab some Mexican food at Las Consuelas and spend the rest of your night dancing up a sweat (as if the heat isn't enough) on their patio to a live band. So much fun!

Mantra Monday

Repeat this slogan to yourself when attempting to cross tasks off your to-do list.
Explore more Mantras!
It is easy to procrastinate as a result of doubt that one will be able to conquer the task at hand.  If one remembers that regardless of the correctness or amount of what is completed that it is better to take a step forward rather than to just stand still, then success will find itself.  By taking a step no matter how little of a shuffle it may be, the daunting expectation of perfection is diminished and being productive will come with ease.
